Background of the Poem
It was stated that the poem comes from the Cornwall-based poet Ann Gray’s new collection At The Gate (Headland, 2008) a powerfully moving sequence of elegies to her partner, who was killed in a car accident.
In addition, in this poem, the grief of bereavement re-imagines the lover as a Lazarus figure, returning from the dead, puzzled and disconcerted at the small changes in the bedroom and the changing, ongoing lives of the living. that holds a deeper, tragic meaning beneath its colloquial surface.

Literary Devices

The poem uses Literary devices. On the first hand, we have alliteration because as we can read the message or the content of the poem ends with a letter with the same sound or rhythm. It also uses Personification, because there it involves giving the object a life as if it is human. examples: " you'll be hunting through the drawers". I also observed Metaphor literary devices, because the author uses words that are exaggerated. Still, f course it is the author's way of expressing her feelings toward the reason behind the poem whom she made.

Mood and Tone of the Poem

By reading the poem entitled "ONE NIGHT" By Anne Gray, I felt the longingness and loneliness handled by the author. Which showcases Sadness and Sympathy. On the other hand, the Tone of the poem reveals the writer's Abbys in her heart. The pain she experienced during that tragic situation caused melancholy.

Theme

Returning from the dead the grief of bereavement, re-imaging someone who is already dead to maintain the memories.

Moral Lesson

It is not easy to lose someone we love, sometimes if this happens to us, we cannot avoid questioning ourselves, to the extent that we're on stage where we blame God, questioning his capacity as a creator of the world, the savior of sinners, the provider. But one thing is for sure. In this kind of situation ACCEPTANCE is the key to surpassing this kind of life circumstances.
